Description

Frequently, clients come into a seating clinic sitting catawampus in their equipment. Our first inclination may be that the equipment is wrong for the client and does not fit them. In many cases this is true. However, taking a moment to first assess how the client is seated in the current equipment and then adjusting them properly within the seat is important in determining their actual needs. This course will focus on adjustments and training that should be done during each evaluation and during delivery of new equipment. The course will also review important adjustments and proper procedures to assure best results with equipment. Through case examples, the participant will learn how to limit poor chair positioning and maximize outcomes. Finally, the course will help the participant limit exclamations of “how did you end up sitting this way?” and other more colorful thoughts during a seating clinic evaluation.

Learning Outcomes:

The participant will list three clinical issues caused by an improperly fitted wheelchair.
The participant will list three clinical issues caused by an improperly fitted wheelchair.
The participant will state three items to discuss at every delivery to assure best positioning in the wheelchair.
