Access to important technologies is significantly impacted by HCPCS codes. Understanding the current processes to obtain needed change is important for manufacturers, suppliers, and clinicians. Over the past three decades, level II HCPCS codes have impacted access to innovative technology, and technologies with clinically important features and options. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is the agency responsible for overseeing HCPCS coding decisions. Coverage and payment are constrained by HCPCS coding.
