Chris Collin is Guest Speaker for Unite4CRT “Conversations”

Chris Collin will help you explore the fun-filled world of adaptive sports in the March 23rd Unite4CRT Conversations. The topic is Let’s Play: Adaptive Sports! Jenny Siegle will host.

Chris was in a motorcycle accident in 2008 that left him with a T5 spinal cord injury, paralyzed from the chest down.  He was born and raised in Maine but decided to go to Shepard Rehabilitation Hospital in Atlanta Georgia, where he spent two months in recovery.  It was there that he got exposed to a wide variety of adaptive sports.  Once he came home he knew he wanted to get into sports to keep himself strong and healthy.  He began skiing in the winter and cycling in the summer.  He created goals for himself and every time he reach that goal he would make another.  Its what kept him striving for the next best thing.

That kind of mind set transferred over into his work life also.  He has gone from no job to part time work, then over to traveling the country for Cure Medical sharing his story and helping others with disabilities.  Now he has moved on to help people with disabilities in a new way by working for a wheelchair manufacture named Motion Composites, which is the leader of innovation in the wheelchair market.  He continues his journey helping the disability community with getting the most out of life and doing it with a smile on his face.

Chris stays active by skiing, road cycling, off road cycling, riding his motorcycle, and rugby.

Join Chris and others as we share stories and photos of our favorite sports and share our tips on staying active. Email photos in advance to Annette Hodges at ahodges@nrrts.org Be sure to follow us on Facebook, Unite4CRT, and Instagram.
