Mobility and positioning technologies play a critical role in supporting participation, access, and independence for children who have mobility delays or limitations. When assisting children and their families in obtaining these technologies, we must focus on a variety of factors to ensure success. But how might a child or their parent view and evaluate these technologies? This article uses the F-Words for Child Development (Function, Family, Fitness, Fun, Friends, and Future) as a framework for gaining insights into children’s and families’ perspectives on mobility and positioning technologies. Drawing on research evidence, clinical experience, and the voices of children and families themselves, the article explores what matters most to those who use these technologies every day. Practical examples and real-world quotes illustrate how incorporating children’s and families’ perspectives can support meaningful, family-centered provision of these technologies.
