Guidance on preventing and addressing common challenges that may arise with ultra-lightweight manual wheelchair deliveries is this session’s focus. Best practices are highlighted from assessment to delivery and follow-up as well as managing the process for modifications or potential replacements. Designed for healthcare professionals, dealer reps, ATPs, and techs, focus will be on multiple strategies for success throughout the process, identifying and resolving issues related to improper fit and function and user concerns. By the end, participants will be equipped with the knowledge and tools to handle unexpected challenges and ensure the wheelchair aligns with the user’s individual needs.
Learning Outcomes:
- Participants will be able to describe 3 client complaints that may identify the wheelchair is not set up optimally for propulsion or function/ADLs.
- Participants will be able to discuss 1-2 potential actions for each identified client complaint that could be considered for adjustment.
- Participants will be able to support 3 strategies for best practice as the seating and wheeled mobility specialist to manage short- and long-term disruption to ultralightweight manual wheelchair prescription completion
