Participants in this workshop will learn about the latest research on the impact of powered mobility add-ons for manual wheelchair users. This will include a discussion about the impact they have on users perceived autonomy and training requirements for their safe use.
Learning Objectives:
At the successful completion of the course, participants will be able to:
- Participants will be able to identify how the use of push rim-activated power-assist wheels and rear mounted power assist devices affect users’ ability to carry out common activities
- Participants will be able to identify how powered add on usage affects users perceived autonomy in different environments.
- Participants will be able to describe training requirements needed for people to learn how to use power mobility add-ons.
